Trees Study

Our Pre-K class is beginning a Trees Study.

We will be observing and comparing trees to learn about what lives in them, what they're made from, and who cares for them.  We hope this study will help everyone explore and appreciate nature.  As we explore trees, we will use literacy, math, the arts and technology to explore as much as we can about trees.  Please visit our classroom and our blog.

If you are able to do a "tree walk" with your child, we would appreciate your help in collecting tree parts to investigate.  If you can, please take a bag to a tree area and collect things that have fallen, such as leaves, bark, acorns, twigs, flowers, fruit, or cones.

Thank you for playing an important role in our learning.

We took our own "tree walk" .  We measured the trees and felt the bark on the trees and looked at small trees and big trees.

Students also looked for
trees that were
Deciduous or Evergreen.
The leaves on a Deciduous tree change colors and then fall off. The leaves on an Evergreen tree remain all year and they stay the same color.

We have been working on our picture

dictionary.  We count the letters in the

words and talk about where we've seen

the tree parts, animals or insects.

We used play dough, twigs

and toy leaves and made our

own trees.

We drew leaves and
trees and had
 fun in the art center.

We collected our own

leaves when we went

on a tree walk.

We tasted

 apples from three

different types of apples.

We talked about trees.
